Kevin Connolly Revisits His '90s Love Triangle That He Didn't Know He Was a Part of

When you think of Hollywood love triangles, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie might be the first names to come to mind. Well, Entourage star Kevin Connolly dusted off a ’90s relationship scandal that he was involved in without his knowledge — a tabloid magazine had to tell him.

The sad love story was revealed on the Hey Dude… The 90s Called! podcast where he talked about his first major heartbreak with his Unhappily Ever After co-star Nikki Cox. Even though they played brother and sister on the show, they dated between the fourth and fifth season of the series. What makes this dysfunctional family comedy even more complicated is that Cox became involved with another cast member, Bobcat Goldthwait, who voiced the toy bunny, Mr. Rabbit. The show was about a dad with multiple personalities who talks to his son’s stuffed animal. Can you see how bonkers this story is already?

Connolly recalled how he found out about his girlfriend’s fling with Goldthwait, and it’s just humiliating. “A couple of days before the table read for season five… Jeremy London called me and said, ‘Kevin, get in your car…’ He said, ‘Get in your car, drive down to 711 and open the National Enquirer,’ ” he shared. “I get in the car and drive up the street. I’ve got a knot in my stomach and start flipping through into the Enquirer.”

That’s when he spots a snapshot of Cox and Goldthwait out on date in the magazine. The timing of the affair revelation couldn’t have come at a worse time for him. “And then the next day, or like two days later, I had to go into that table reading, and we had to just gut out 24 weeks of misery,” he added.

Podcast host Christine Taylor sympathized with him, “There’s nothing worse than for you to find something like that out publicly is horrendous.” And her co-host David Lascher chimed in, “And the guy you’re working with.” Connolly was left “heartbroken” by his girlfriend and said it was a “pretty terrible” time. He said, “Yeah, I was gutted. I couldn’t sleep. It was one of those jobs.”

Cox became engaged to Goldthwait in 1997 and they remained together until 2005. She eventually went on to marry comedian Jay Mohr in 2006 until their divorce in 2018. Connolly’s heart has been mended and he’s in a relationship with actress Zulay Henao, who gave birth to their first child, daughter Kennedy Cruz in 2021.
