Her well-tailored tweed garment featured a checkerboard textured pattern, and a slit in the back, just over her calves. This gave her an effortless gait as she entered the New York City venue.

The Little Fires Everywhere star wore white peep-toe strappy pumps, radiating elegance.

Washington opted for fresh-faced glam with a nude lip, and her hair was pulled back into a sleek style.

For accessories, the Golden Globe nominee honored the fashion house’s event by wearing a white Chanel clutch purse. While she kept much of her jewelry minimal, Washington chose to make her neckline the focal point of her look with an elaborate rose gold statement piece.

The night was in celebration of iconic designer Gabrielle Chanel, and Washington told PEOPLE what makes her feel iconic.

"I think the thing that makes me feel most iconic is when I'm giving myself an experience in luxury, like a bubble bath with the candles and the book. Like those kind of moments where I feel like I am in the moment of self care and luxury? That’s when I feel the most iconic," she shared.

When asked what her most meaningful pieces of jewelry were, Washington replied, "my wedding band and my engagement ring" from her husband of 10+ years, Nnamdi Asomugha.

Washington rarely disappoints with her fashion choices. At her last event in December, The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala, she stepped out in a Prada lilac dress that cut off at the ankle, revealing a simple silver heel. The tea-length gown, with its off-the-shoulder neckline, was patterned with lavender flowers, and the Scandal star debuted her blunt bob cut on the carpet.

In an interview with Extra at the event, she revealed her openness to a movie of the hit political drama series. “That is a question for [creator] Shonda Rhimes,” she said. “I will be there if it happens.”
