Kerry Katona has revealed her first experience of drugs was when she was given speed by her mum as a 14-year-old after being told it was sherbet.

Katona had supervised visits with her mother as a teenager while she was in the foster care system, but would often sneak out to see her outside of those times.

Katona rose to fame in the late 90s as an 18-year-old with pop trio Atomic Kitten, before moving into TV work and winning I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here in 2004.

The star said she is surprised that people link her troubles with addiction to being a part of the music industry, given she was already using drugs before then.

"But I thought it was normal. I would save up my pocket money from my foster parents to get a wrap of whizz [speed]."
