Kermit's new voice fails to make 'Rainbow Connection' with 'DWTS' audience

Kermit the Frog and his new voice visited Dancing With the Stars for Disney Night. Kermit is now voiced by Matt Vogel, who replaced longtime puppeteer Steve Whitmire after accusations that the latter was “unprofessional.”

Kermit was a guest judge for Property Brothers star Drew Scott’s performance of “Rainbow Connection.”

Kermit enjoyed Scott’s performance: “You floated across the dance floor like a pair of tadpoles who just dropped their tails,” he said.

Vogel’s version of Kermit is slightly different from Whitmire’s. Judging by the response on social media, some viewers were not very happy about that.

Whitmire had initially taken over for Kermit’s original puppeteer, Jim Henson, who died in 1990. So it is not as if he was the original voice.

And considering The Muppets are bigger than any one voice, except Henson’s, it’s probably best if viewers stop being so Ms. Piggy about the minor change.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Dancing With the Stars for free on Yahoo View.
