Keri Hilson Discusses Lengthy Hiatus With Psychic Medium

"I have built myself back up."

The music industry has gotten nothing but radio silence from R&B songstress Keri Hilson in the last seven years. Between 2008 and 2011, the singer could only ever be heard on a hit but then, she went mute with no explanation.

Recently, Hilson met with psychic medium Reginald Lewis on Steve after a surprise pairing by Steve Harvey. The televised session may have answered everyone’s question(s) about Hilson’s sudden disappearance.

“I hit rock bottom a few times and I’m crawling back to walking in my purpose,” the singer said. “I thought it would just be a year. It’s been six, maybe.” Hilson fought back tears but the intense feelings overrode her will.

Lewis gave Hilson messages on behalf of her paternal grandmother in support of her decision to “step away” and distance herself from negative energy. To many of these affirmations, Hilson attempted to remain stoic but half smiled in agreement.

“She’s saying this year for you has been a year of release and kind of stepping away from certain people,” he said. “So you’ve actually been cutting people out, you’ve just been stepping away. She’s saying that she knows that people have taken advantage of you.”

The medium continued to tell Hilson that her decision was the only feasible one and that the new year would be her opportunity to start anew. In spite of her lengthy departure, there is still space and time for a return, he shared.

And there is. She told Lewis that there would, indeed, be a comeback. “I have built myself back up,” Hilson said.

Later, she took to Twitter, reflecting on the insightful nature of her hour-and-a-half long session, cut for television to four minutes. “I believe that God can awaken someone to be an angel in our lives…for a period of time, or sometimes just to speak a single sentence,” she wrote.

It seems that Hilson’s hiatus was a spiritual cleanse and she’s almost completely through with healing.

This year will make it almost eight since the release of Hilson’s 2010 No Boys Allowed album but we should be expecting a new one from her soon. Initially teased in 2016, her next album is set to be released this year and is provisionally entitled L.I.A.R. (Love is A Religion).
