Kennywood Park finishes in Top-10 for best roller coaster and theme park

WEST MIFFLIN ― For the third year in a row, Kennywood and Phantom’s Revenge secured top 10 spots in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Kennywood earned the eighth spot on the USA Today 10Best list of Best Theme Parks in the U.S.

The Phantom’s Revenge landed third on the USA Today 10Best list of Best Roller Coasters. The fan-favorite coaster boasts a 232-foot drop and speed of 85 miles per hour.

A Pennsylvania coaster, Phoenix at Knoebels in Elysburg, Columbia County, was voted as the nation's top coaster. Knoebels also finished as the No. 2 theme park behind Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo.

Hollywood star Jeremy Renner visited Kennywood last week amid filming in Beaver and Allegheny counties for his Paramount+ show "The Mayor of Kingstown."

The West Mifflin amusement park could use some positive publicity following an outcry a few weeks ago spurred when Kennywood announced the Steel Curtain roller coaster would be closed for the 2024 season to allow for improvement repairs.

Kennywood will open at 11 a.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

The USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards highlight top-notch attractions and businesses around the entire United States. Both Kennywood and the Phantom finished in the top 10 in their respective polls in the past two years.
