After producing music for Vince Staples, IDLES, Denzel Curry, and more, Kenny Beats has shared LOUIEhis first full-length album under his own name. Listen to the project below via Apple Music and Spotify.

Kenny Beats resolved to make LOUIE for his father after learning he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer during the isolation of COVID-19. Inspired by his father’s old genre-bending mixtapes, the producer described the 17-track record as a “hypnotic odyssey of wounded, teardrop soul.” He recorded the project throughout December 2021.

“I always said that I wouldn’t do a solo album because I didn’t have anything to say. Finally, I did,” the artist said in a statement. “Something dark turned into something beautiful. This album encapsulated the feeling of that one month.”

A number of Kenny Beats’ longtime friends and associates contributed to the album, including Vince Staples, Thundercat, Mac DeMarco, slowthai, Remi Wolf, JPEGMAFIA, Omar Apollo, Pink Siifu, Paris Texas, and more.

On the heels of his debut solo albumKenny Beats will play the Summerstage in Central Park on September 16th. In October, he’ll perform at the III Points Festival in Miami, and he’s got a show at the Shrine in Los Angeles on the books for November. Grab tickets to the artist’s upcoming shows via Ticketmaster.

Earlier this year, Kenny Beats produced Freddie Gibbs and Rick Ross’ reimagining of Raekwon’s 1995 song “Ice Cream.”
