Kennedy Center Honors 2024: Who will be the 5 artists selected this year? [PHOTOS]

The five artists chosen for the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors are likely being informed now in the month of April about their selections. That’s according to recent honoree Billy Crystal, who said he was told last April and had to keep quiet until mid-summer when the 2023 KCH choices were officially announced.

Crystal was honored a few months ago in Washington, D.C. for the annual CBS event, along with Renee Fleming, Barry Gibb, Queen Latifah and Dionne Warwick. Our gallery features deserving artists from the fields of acting (both film and TV), popular music (pop, rock, country), theatre and fine arts (classical music, instrumentalists, opera singers, dancers, conductors and more). Based on the past few years, we would expect three from the popular music area, one actor or actress and somebody from the fine arts. They will all be over age 60 (although sometimes they have chosen younger people). If these trends are followed, here are three potential groupings through educated guesses:

GROUP 1 —

Mick Jagger or the Rolling Stones (rock music)
Liza Minnelli (singer/actress)
Arturo Sandoval (trumpeter)
Denzel Washington (actor)

GROUP 2 —
Harrison Ford (actor)
Wynton Marsalis (trumpeter)
Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac (rock/pop music)
Bonnie Raitt (rock music)
Frankie Valli (rock/pop music)

GROUP 3 —
Vince Gill (country music)
Jessica Lange (actress)
Madonna (rock/pop music)
Eddie Murphy (actor/comedian)
Tommy Tune (dancer/choreographer)

The Kennedy Center Honors selections for 2021 were Justino Diaz, Berry Gordy, Lorne Michaels, Bette Midler and Joni Mitchell. The 2022 honorees were George Clooney, Amy Grant, Gladys Knight, Tania Leon and U2.
