Kendrick Lamar has met with Louis Farrakhan, leader of the political/religious group the Nation of Islam. Farrakhan posted photos of he and Kendrick together on Instagram. “The artistic community has historically been in the vanguard of social change,” he wrote in the captions. “I was very honored to meet and talk with my powerful brother and Hip-Hop artist Kendrick Lamar. The Cultural Revolution is On.” Farrakhan used a similar phrase when he praised the Compton rapper last year, following his politically charged performance at the Grammys. At the time, Farrakhan said that Kendrick “set a new standard” and “freed rappers” to speak their minds. Kendrick is set to release his next album DAMN. later this week.
