King Kendrick Lamar has added another feather to his crown. The Compton rapper’s good kid, m.A.A.d city just made music history as the longest-running hip-hop album on the Billboard 200 charts.

In taking the title, Kendrick’s 2012 breakout album surpasses Eminem and his Eminem Show LP from 2002. good kid has spent a record-breaking total of 358 weeks on the charts compared to Slim Shady’s 357.

As XXL points out, Em’s Curtain Call has been on Billboard the longest. However, the 2005 release is technically a greatest hits collection and not a proper studio effort of new material.

Kendrick was poised to overtake Eminem after making significant strides to catch up to the Detroit MC over the summer.
