You live and learn. In the wake of her big sister’s holdup in Paris in early October — and her own stalker scare during the summer — Kendall Jenner was taking no chances when it came to her safety during her trip to the famed French city this week. The 21-year-old model was in town to strut her stuff in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and even though security was “sky high” for the televised, star-studded event, Jenner had her own separate team of security and handlers, just in case.
At the show, Kim Kardashian‘s sib allegedly “wanted nothing to do with anyone” except her BFF Gigi Hadid, her hair and makeup crew, and her private security. All this, despite the fact that the streets around the Grand Palais were barricaded, dogs were patrolling the premises, and no cars were allowed to park anywhere near the venue.
Backstage, Jenner declined to do any press at all and reportedly “ignored” a reporter who had asked her a direct question. Instead, Jenner “just kept looking at pictures of herself on her phone.” (Well, that’s one way to avoid talking to people.)

A brand spokesperson explained, “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is a high-profile event, and we take every precaution to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our team and guests no matter what city we’re in.” Jenner, however, was obviously unconvinced.

Jenner also arrived to the afterparty with her own security, even though there was already a heavy police presence. Despite her obvious (and not completely unfounded) concerns for her safety, she seemed to make the most of her time in the bustling city. In addition to walking the runway, she found time to grab some well-deserved burgers with her aforementioned BFF, Gigi Hadid.

All went smoothly for the young star, whose move to bring her own crack team of security pros is becoming more commonplace for members of the upper crust who travel to Paris, as fears about both terrorist and personal attacks are running high. (In addition to Kim, Indian actress Mallika Sherawat was recently attacked by three masked men who assaulted her with tear gas — though for some reason, the attackers didn’t go through with what was assumed to be a planned robbery.)
Whether this trend in hiring personal security to visit the city waxes or wanes remains to be seen, but in the meantime, those who can afford not to take chances … aren’t.
