Ken Watanabe, George Lopez Among SCAD TV Fest Honorees

Ken Watanabe (“Inception,” “Tokyo Vice”), comedian George Lopez, actor Matt Bomer (“Maestro”) and “The Morning Show” producer Charlotte Stoudt are among the Savannah College of Art and Design’s TVFest honorees.

Other award recipients include Joel Kim Booster, Kelsey Grammer, Sonequa Martin-Green and Josie Totah.

The SCAD TVFest celebrates cinematic creativity from award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers and will return for its 12th installment Feb. 7-10 in Atlanta at the new SCADshow theater.

SCAD TVFest is set to host a variety of programming, including panels with industry veterans and screenings of upcoming shows, like Watanabe’s own “Tokyo Vice,” which is the opening night gala screening.

Notable shows with guests at this year’s fest will include “The Buccaneers,” “The Gilded Age,” “Invincible,” “The Morning Show,” “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” and “Star Trek: Discovery.”

Lopez will be feted with top honors as the festival’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, with Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier”) receiving a nod for his long-standing career in television with the Legend of Television Award and Bomer with the Hollywood Reporter’s Trailblazer Award. In honor of her dedicated career as a television producer, Charlotte Stoudt (“The Morning Show”) will be honored with Variety’s Showrunner Award and Ken Watanabe – a longtime and frequent collaborator with acclaimed directors like Christopher Nolan, Ed Zwick and Clint Eastwood – will be feted with the Virtuoso Award.

Finally, actors Joel Kim Booster (“Loot”) and Josie Totah (“The Buccaneers”) will receive the Rising Star Award. In addition, SCAD will present two SCAD45 Awards to casting professional Deanna Greif and sound editor Filipe Messenger for “giving all of themselves to their creative careers.”

“It is always a pleasure to celebrate the best in television at SCAD TVFest in Atlanta,” Christina Routhier, senior executive director of SCAD theaters and festivals, said in a statement. “From our terrific honorees, including iconic actors Kelsey Grammer, George Lopez, and Ken Watanabe, to our shows and panels lineup featuring some of the most buzzed-about shows like ‘The Gilded Age’ and ‘The Morning Show,’ we can’t wait to give Atlantans and our phenomenal SCAD students a full slate of exciting programming.”

Award recipients will also attend screenings and participate in conversations highlighting their performances and careers.
