Kelsey Grammer Announces 'Frasier' Reboot

In the midst of reboots and remake announcements, Kelsey Grammer confirms that there will be a 'Frasier' reboot. 'Frasier' joins the likes of 'Will & Grace,' 'Gossip Girl,' 'Lizzie McGuire,' and 'Friends.' How much does it have in common with the other reboots in the talks?

While NBC hasn't confirmed the reboot Kelsey Grammer has expressed that he is doing everything in his power to make it happen. Town & Country has broken down all of the hints that Grammer has dropped about the reboot.

“We’ve got it hatched. We’ve hatched the plan, what we think is the right way to go,” he said, during an appearance on show 'In Depth With Graham Bensinger.'

“We’re sort of on standby a little bit. Working out a couple of possible network deals that we’re circling. Frasier is sort of in a second position to that at this point. So there’s still stuff going on. But a revisit to Frasier, Frasier’s world is I think definitely going to come.”

Grammer knew he'd have to make some decisions on which story the reboot will be telling. He has decided that he does not want the plot to pick up where it was left off 15 years ago.

“We’re shopping for the right idea because I don’t think we should just pick up where we left off. Will and Grace has done a continuation, which is like the next day after they were last on the air–they picked up right where they left off. I don’t think that’s appropriate for Frasier,” he explained to "This Morning."

"He was leaving town at the end of the show previously, he was going to go and explore his life in Chicago with his new lady love. Whether that went badly or it went swimmingly, who knows, these are all themes we need to settle on and figure out what he's going to do next."

Kelsey Grammer wants the 'Frasier' reboot to explore the similarities between Frasier's son Frederick and Frasier's father Martin Crane. He is, however, still in the early stages of story planning.

As far as casting goes, Kelsey Grammer is determined for the original cast to return.

"We would need to deal with [Mahoney's passing] within the storytelling, but I'd want everybody back, if they want to come back," Kelsey Grammer told Digital Spy.

Kelsey Grammer played Dr. Frasier Crane, Jane Leeves played Daphne Moon, David Hyde Pierce played Dr. Niles Crane, Peri Gilpin played Roz Doyle, and John Mahoney played Martin Crane.

At the moment, Kelsey Grammer is the only officially confirmed returning castmate.
