Kelsea Ballerini Shares Her New Year's Resolutions: Drinking Less and Reading More

Kelsea Ballerini, the Homecoming Queen singer and blossoming country artist, has been relatively quiet since the release for her second album, but recently came out in a post on Instagram to share what she wanted to change in her life as a part of her 2020 New Year's resolutions.

The important resolutions that she wanted to implement included drinking alcohol less, reading more, and traveling the world as much as possible. She developed into more details regarding these resolutions in her Instagram posts. She also discussed the release of her sophomore album and what changes she's making to creating the music and touring.

Ballerini's New Year's Resolutions

In her Instagram post where she outlined her New Year's resolutions, she also provided more depth and detail to what they meant to her, instead of simply listing them. Alongside the captions is a picture of her being seen jumping out of a boat into the ocean.

"2020: care more about less," Ballerini shared on Instagram, along with a photo of her jumping into the ocean. "Ditch the phone more often. Be present. Eat more veggies drink less wine (crying emoji]. Read a book (yes, just one, it’s that daunting to me...). Play more guitar. Find magic in alone time. Conquer a fear (jumping in the ocean is one of those...because sharks...). Take more ownership of my art. Smile a lot. Stress less. Travel to new places. Play more music."

The post itself has received quite positive feedback from social media users and at the moment has accumulated over 103,000 likes.

Personal Growth from First and Second Albums

Ballerini also has big plans for 2020, in that she'll be releasing her third album. In speaking with PopCulture.com, she discussed the drastic learning curve that she's had to undergo and how that has taught her to be a better musician, writer, and performer.

"The first album, when I was making it, I had never played a show with a band, so I had no idea," Ballerini stated. "And then the second album, I had opened for people that I hadn't really headlined properly yet, and then now that I've gotten to headline clubs, theaters, and then arenas, I understand what putting a full show together means and I love production."

"When I'm writing these songs, not only am I thinking of the music videos, I'm thinking of pyro or a hydraulic lift, you know, stuff like that," she continued.

Taking On More Responsibility

Ballerini claims that she's taking an unprecedented amount of ownership with her third album and sharing that she's so excited with her newly found responsibility for her music.

"I've never been so involved in making an album before," she told PopCulture.com. "I think I have a different sense of pride about it, just because I'm super involved. From the writing of it obviously, but now to the production too. Yeah, it's dope."

But with more responsibility, comes less time to do some of the other things, especially spending time with her husband, Morgan Evans, a fellow country artist from Australia.

Getting to Spend Time with Husband Morgan Evans

"I always say we're both in the building blocks of our career where we have to keep our head down and just go," Ballerini said in reference to how busy both she and her husband are.

"And we both know that about each other, so we have so much grace for that, and also when we're not together, we're with our other love. We're with music, and we both share that. We can't be upset about that, ever. It won't be like this forever."

It seems like Ballerini has a fun-filled 2020, where she'll be able to reinvent herself and the music that she performs. Hopefully, she'll be able to stick to those New Year's resolutions and spend time with her husband in between their busy schedules.
