Kelsea Ballerini among many added as appearing at 2023 MTV VMAs

Sept. 12's MTV VMAs will receive a pop-aimed shot of Nashville superstardom from Kelsea Ballerini.

The artist who has just finished "Rolling Up The Welcome Mat" (for good) will appear alongside hip-hop legend Lil Wayne, Anitta, Doja Cat and TOMORROW X TOGETHER at New Jersey's Prudential Center for the event airing live at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT.

The just-named performers join Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin and Stray Kids, as already announced as appearing during the award program.

Voting for "Video of the Year" and "Best New Artist" is still available at http://vote.mtv.com.

Ballerini's VMA debut doubles as her 30th birthday. The "HEARTFIRST" vocalist is amid increased acclaim following three sold-out legs of a headlining tour, coast-to-coast fan screenings for the short film accompanying her "Rolling Up The Welcome Mat" EP.

Among many standout occurrences on Sept. 12, Taylor Swift, SZA, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith will be among many artists competing for nearly two dozen awards.

Overall, 46 different artists are nominated for the "moon man" trophy-honored prize that, as a press release notes, "[celebrates] artists whose cultural impact and work during the last 12 months have transformed the music industry and cultivated global conversations."

Nashville favorite Swift is an Artist of the Year nominee. At the same time, her single "Anti-Hero" is nominated for Song, Video and Best Pop Video of the Year, plus Best Cinematography, Direction, Editing and Video Effects.

Colombian-born pop superstar Shakira will also be honored with MTV's Video Vanguard Award and perform live for the first time in nearly two decades.
