Kelly Rowland said it was a treat to meet Meghan Markle.

The 42-year-old singer has revealed what it was like to spend time with the Duchess of Sussex at Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour concert in Los Angeles on Sept. 4 (the performer's birthday!). The outing marked Meghan’s second Beyoncé concert in four days, where she shimmered in a silver skirt and posed for a photo with Rowland and Kerry Washington.

"It was my first time meeting her. It was just nice being there with other great women and being able to just simply talk," the Destiny's Child alum told Hello! over the weekend at a WaterWipes event in Brooklyn.

"I don't know what people expect to see or to know, but she just felt very cool and very down to earth. She is very warm," Rowland continued.

The “Motivation” singer also alluded to the British royal family, which the former Suits star became part of when she married Prince Harry in 2018. The couple stepped back from their royal roles in 2020 and relocated to Meghan’s home state California, where they reside with their son Prince Archie, 4, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 2.

“She was royal before she was in that family. I think that we are royalty before anything. And we have to hold ourselves in that regard as humans, as people,” Rowland said.

In addition to the birthday show, the Duchess of Sussex, 42, attended Beyoncé's first Los Angeles show of the Renaissance World Tour at SoFi Stadium in L.A. on Sept. 1 with her husband Harry and mom Doria Ragland. As seen in a photo posted on social media, the trio was spotted in a private box — and all wore shades of silver! The 32-time Grammy winner had asked that her fans all wear “fabulous silver fashions to the shows 8.23 - 9.22” in honor of her 42nd birthday on Sept. 4.

Meghan and Doria were seen smiling and dancing as they waved their arms in the air from a private box overlooking the stadium while Harry watched on.

The Duchess of Sussex previously shared that she is a Beyoncé fan, citing “Cozy” as her favorite song from the Renaissance album in her Variety cover interview in October 2022. She also shared a warm text from Beyoncé in the docuseries Harry & Meghan, which debuted on Netflix last December. In a scene from volume two, Meghan said she was touched when the music superstar reached out the day after her and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in March 2021.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex worked side by side in their sunny home office in Montecito, California, when Meghan said, "Beyoncé just texted" as Prince Harry, 39, theatrically gasped.

"Just checking in," Meghan said with a smile reading the message. "I still can't believe she knows who I am!"

"Go and call her," Harry suggested. "No, it's okay," his wife replied. "She said she wants me to feel safe and protected. She admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed."

"That's well said," Prince Harry said.

During the wide-ranging conversation with Oprah, which aired on CBS, the California couple talked about losing police protection, escalating strain with other members of the royal family and the sex of their baby on the way (daughter Lilibet would be born that June). In perhaps the most shocking moments of the interview, Meghan revealed that she experienced suicidal thoughts and that within the royal family, there were "concerns and conversations about how dark [their child's] skin might be when he's born."

Almost immediately after Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special aired, the "Single Ladies" singer posted a tribute to the Duchess of Sussex on her website.

"Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership," Beyoncé wrote alongside a photo of the pair at the U.K. premiere of The Lion King almost two years before. "We are all strengthened and inspired by you."

The two women seemed to hit it off when they met in July 2019 at the London movie premiere for the live-action revamp of the Disney classic, in which the "Single Ladies" singer voiced Nala.

"My princess," Beyoncé was spotted saying as she leaned in for a hug with Meghan.
