Kelly Rowland, A$AP Rocky Honored By Harlem’s Fashion Row For NYFW

Kelly Rowland, A$AP Rocky, and several other fashionable ladies and gents were honored Tuesday night (Sept. 5) at the 16th Annual Harlem’s Fashion Row Show and Style Awards.

Taking place at the world famous Apollo Theater, the style-forward presentation not only welcomed New York Fashion Week back to the city, but was also held in honor of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, according to the official website.

Rowland accepted her award for Fashion Icon Of The Year in a stunning white strapless corset with a plunging neckline, pairing it with black, drop-down skirt complete with a high slit and train.

The singer took to Instagram to share a video of the full look and to express her appreciation for the honor.

“Thank You @harlemsfashionrow for my award! I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for my Fashion ICON award! Thank You @brandicedaniel and your team!! I am beyond honored! ♥️ Thank You!!!! THANK YOU!!”

Rowland accepted the award from her husband, Tim Weatherspoon, whom she married in 2014. “My husband is the greatest human I know!! I love you @timspoon!!!,” she added to her Instagram post.

Harlem’s own A$AP Rocky returned to his home turf to receive the Virgil Abloh Award, recognizing individuals who embody Abloh’s spirit, brilliance and vision through contributions to culture, community and innovation.

The award notably was first introduced last year to honor the late designer. Issa Rae became the award’s first recipient during the 2022 ceremony.

“Virgil designed my first album cover and my first tour,” Rocky revealed during his acceptance speech. “To be a trendsetter, it takes a lot of balls, and excuse my French, you feel me?”

The Uptown spitter rocked a pair of black, pleated pants along with a white button up and a cream-colored cardigan with black-stripes, as well as a black and yellow-checkered tie and sequin hair clips.

Other award recipients for the evening included WAYMAN+MIKAH winning Stylists of the Year, photographer Johnny Nunez taking home the Hip-Hop Trailblazer Award, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson winning Editor of the Year, and Stella Jean winning Designer of the Year.
