A few weeks after going public with her new relationship, Kelly Rizzo is addressing comments from people saying she’s moving “too fast” after her husband Bob Saget’s death.

Rizzo took to TikTok on Sunday to say her peace about her new relationship with actor Breckin Meyer and to defend why she feels it’s not “too fast.”

After seeing comments from fans saying she’s moving “too fast” after Saget’s death, Rizzo decided it was time to tackle the topic publicly.

“So this is something I have not addressed publicly, but I feel this needs to be said,” she started her TikTok video. “The vast, vast, vast majority of all of the comments and feedback and support and everything I’ve gotten since Bob passed, 99 percent has been positive and lovely and wonderful. But there are some people who just love to talk when it comes to dating after your spouse passes away.”

She then explained that if you’re not a widow or a widower, “you truly have absolutely no place and no right to comment on this, because you do not know what it’s like.”

Rizzo explained that the process of grief is “incredibly complex” and the thoughts and feelings throughout the process can be difficult.

“At some point when it crosses your mind to even think about starting to date again, just having those thoughts, you feel guilty, you feel shamed, you feel horrible, but yet you also feel lonely and so you wanna do it,” she continued. “And then you have support and love from your spouse’s friends and family, and they’re telling you it’s okay, but yet you still feel really weird about it.”

She gave an example of her situation saying Saget’s daughters and friends told her it’s okay to start dating again. But regardless of what others are saying, she said she still needs to feel “peace with it in your heart.”

Rizzo Didn't Feel Peace In Her Heart For 'Well After A Year' Following Bob Saget's Death

Dating wasn’t something on Kelly Rizzo’s mind for at least a full year after her husband’s passing, and didn’t start to date until 18 months following his death.

“Now people are seeing me with my boyfriend, and it’s, you know, two years and a few months after,” she explained. “And maybe some people think Bob passed, like, a minute ago, because they’re like, this is so fast. It has been well over two years.”

Rizzo explained that some move on really fast after their spouse passes away, and others may never date again.

“And the point is that whatever feels right to you, because you know how important your loved one was in your life, and as long as you are honoring that and honoring them, and being true to your feelings, and you know that you’re also having the love and support and trust from your spouses, loved ones and friends, then you can’t be doing it wrong,” she continued.  “And this is for all the people out there who are in this situation.”

She later said, “it’s not one size fits all and there is absolutely no room for judgment.”

Rizzo explained that the time frame before moving on is a personal thing and the timing doesn’t “diminish or take away from the love and the relationship that you had with your partner.”

Kelly Rizzo Was Concerned She Wouldn't Find Someone Who Understands Her Situation

The blogger also explained that finding the right person to share her life with was something she was concerned about, but she was lucky to meet someone who appreciates that and understands that Saget will always be part of her life.

“And he always asks questions about him and keeps him part of the conversation and that means so much to me, because I knew that I was gonna have to find somebody who just got it,” she said. “And fortunately, I was lucky enough to find that.”

She concluded her video to remind everyone that each situation is different and shared some advice for others going through the same thing.

“Just know that yes, your future partner’s gonna need to be somebody who really appreciates what you went through, and they’re not afraid to talk about it, and they’re not afraid to ask questions and they’re not afraid to have difficult questions about how do you feel, like are you okay right now?” she said. “And feeling like you can cry in front of them and be vulnerable in front of them. So, anyway, people saying it’s too fast, you don’t know anything unless you’ve been in the situation.”

A TikTok Viewer Asked Rizzo To Talk About The Conversation She Had With Bob Saget's Kids

One viewer asked Kelly Rizzo another question about the topic of dating after your spouse passes away.

“Can you discuss if you had a conversation with his kids about this and who brought it up? I think my SM is dating but doesn’t want to talk about it,” the viewer wrote in the comments. Rizzo answered with a follow-up video.

“It was about 14 months or 15 months or so after Bob passed. I sat down with his girls and I was just like, look, I am not ready for anything, you know, serious anytime soon, but you know it gets a little lonely and it might be nice to, you know, go on a hike with someone or get a coffee with somebody,” she said. “And I just wanted your blessing, before I even cross that bridge.”

That was Rizzo’s way of feeling out the situation and she was immediately met with supportive words. They told her they don’t want her to be lonely and want her to be happy. They also told her they love her and trust her to “do what’s right" and that their dad would want her to be happy, too.
