Kelly Ripa Says Padma Lakshmi Is So Sexy, 'When She Eats, You Have to Watch'

Padma Lakshmi is pretty open-minded when it comes to dating.

“Everybody I’ve ever had a serious relationship with is so different from the next,” Lakshmi told PEOPLE at the book party for her memoir Love, Loss, and What We Ate. “I don’t have a type. I’m dating. I’m just looking forward to having life be calm and peaceful.”

At the Monday night bash, held at the home of Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch (he co-owns the Giants and is the Chairman of Loews Hotels), Lakshmi made it a family affair, with her ex, venture capitalist Adam Dell, and doted on their daughter Krishna.

The book covers several of her relationships with well-known men, including author Salman Rushdie, the now-late billionaire Teddy Forstmann, Dell and a recent romance with Richard Gere that ended last year.

“Anybody who is in the book, who is a major presence, was aware that I was writing the book and what the content was,” Lakshmi told PEOPLE. “It was probably hardest on my mother, because it’s very personal about some things that happened to her. She was very gracious and gave me license to tell the stories.”

After chatting and laughing at length with Chris Rock, Kelly Ripa revealed that even her husband Mark Consuelos (who was not at the bash) fell under Lakshimi’s spell when they first met.

“She was so beautiful,” said Ripa. “He got up to shake her hand and he hit his face on the chandelier over the table.”

“There is a lot of love in everything she does and it shows in her parenting, and the way she lives life to the fullest,” Ripa said. “Everything she does is very sexy. And it’s unintentionally sexy. There is a big distinction between somebody who tries to be sexy and Padma, who is just sexy. We’ve gone out to restaurants together. She’s so sexy that when she eats, you have to watch.”
