Kelly Ripa wasn’t going to relive what went down on her Live! show in 2016. Instead, she decided to avoid any awkward run-ins with her former co-host Michael Strahan at Robin Roberts’ wedding to Amber Laign by skipping the event altogether. It’s likely a sign that their feud may have simmered, but neither of them are on friendly terms over seven years after it happened.

“Kelly refuses to be in the same room as Michael. Even after all these years, she won’t be anywhere near him,” an insider revealed to The Sun. “She couldn’t be further away from Michael at Robin’s wedding Saturday night in Connecticut.” Instead of celebrating Roberts’ big day, Ripa headed to Los Angeles with husband Mark Consuelos to support his Grand Marshal honor at the East LA Parade for Mexican Independence Day.

Ripa and Strahan co-hosted Live! together from 2012 until 2016 when he and ABC producers kept her in the dark about his departure to join the Good Morning America broadcast. The news was announced on the air, which shocked the 52-year-old TV personality. She staged a sick-out for his remaining days on the air and didn’t return until he had departed. When Ripa wrote her memoir, Live Wire: Longwinded Short Stories, in 2022, she didn’t even mention Strahan by name.

The feeling seems to be mutual with Strahan, who recalled his daytime talk show tenure to The New York Times. “It’s not about the team. It’s selfish, and I don’t operate well under that,” he said. “I’ve had jobs where I got there and felt like, ‘Wow, I didn’t know I was supposed to be a sidekick.’ I thought I was coming here to be a partner.” It sounds like Ripa made the right move to skip the ceremony and let Roberts enjoy all the love without the two former co-hosts ruining the good vibes of the day.
