There are some milestones you should never hit with your kids, and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos just shared one of them. In a hilarious bit of opening banter during Monday’s Live With Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos revealed their daughter Lola caught them having sex on the morning of her 18th birthday. Props to these two for keeping it sexy after all the years, but, uh, haven’t y’all learned to lock the doors by now?
Consuelos started the story by saying that the Ripa-Consuelos family’s Father Day 2019 celebrations “started off pretty bad,” laughing as he looked over to Ripa before he revealed how their daughter caught them having sex.

“It happened again. We thought [Lola] knocked on our door —” Consuelos began before Ripa interjected with, “What do you mean you thought she knocked on our door?”, which prompted the audience to laugh. After Consuelos admitted to Ripa he didn’t really hear the knock but was probably sure she did, he turned to the audience and said, “She knocked on our bedroom door.”
This coded phrase immediately got a knowing acknowledgment from the audience. Consuelos went on to share that Lola opened the door, trailing off as both he and Ripa shook their heads in shame, much to the amusement of the audience.
Ripa tried to lighten the mood by adding, “I just wanted to say, I was not in the mood. There was a house full of people,” to which Consuelos joked, “I could tell you were going through the motions!”
But the real kicker of the story is Lola’s response to catching the lovebirds: “Thanks for ruining my birthday. And thanks for ruining my life. I used to see in color, and now everything is gray!” If ever there was an incredible response to catching your parents having sex before going downstairs to what Ripa and Consuelos deemed the most “awkward” family brunch, it’s the response Lola chose. Consuelos also hilariously revealed Lola called her parents “disgusting” and told them they need to “chill.” Apparently, Lola and her brothers, Michael, 22, and Joaquin, 16, now all have something in common because both boys revealed to the family they have also caught their parents having sex.
In spite of the very awkward start to the morning, the Consuelos’ were able to celebrate recent high school grad Lola’s 18th birthday without any more weird moments. As awkward as this story may be now, we have no doubt this story will become Consuelos family banter in the very near future.
