Kelly Osbourne has revealed that her beloved dog has died and that she does “not know how to go on” without her.

The reality star’s Pomeranian, Polly, died this week because of a pulmonary heart defect and Osbourne said she’s never known pain like it.

Sharing a picture of the pooch on Instagram, she said she was “devastated”.

“I promised myself that I would take a break from social media for the summer... however I thought I should let you all know that this week I lost my Polly to pulmonary heart defect!” wrote the 36-year-old, who is the daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.

“She has been by my side for 6 years. I do not know to go on without her."

“To say I’m devastated is an understatement," Osbourne went on.

"I have never felt pain like this. I have lost my shadow. I don’t think I will ever get over this.”

The TV star – who revealed earlier this year that she’d relapsed after four years of sobriety - said her “heart is broken”.

“I am broken!!!” she told her 2.4 million followers on Instagram.

“I am not in a place to even talk about it.”

She added: “To all my close friends... if I don’t respond please understand that I just need time.”

Osbourne has previously referred to Polly as her “heart and soul”.

In May she told fans that the dog had to be rushed to the vet after her heart apparently stopped.

“This dog means more to me than anything in the world,” she said at the time. “She is my heart and soul. I don’t think I would still be here if it was not for this dog.”

The star received condolences from friends and fans after sharing that Polly has passed away.

“Love you, so sorry,” posted singer Natasha Bedingfield, while Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears wrote: “Oh sweetheart, I’m so sorry.

"Sending you all my love.”
