Kelly Clarkson isn’t looking back on her marriage to Brandon Blackstock after almost seven years together. The 41-year-old talk show host is living in the moment and realizing that her East Coast chapter might be the best part of her journey so far.

It’s no secret that Clarkson’s divorce from the former music manager was a “difficult” one, but now that she’s had time to process the split, a People insider revealed that the American Idol superstar “recovered quickly” and has “no regrets.” The source added, “She is doing really well. She is happy that she left L.A. for N.Y. She has the primary custody of the kids and is a great mom.” The move to Manhattan offers her a fresh start and has invigorated Clarkson’s work life, but at the end of the day, she’s still mom. “The kids are her world,” they shared.

It’s that focus on the future that is likely giving her strength to counter-sue her ex for reportedly violating California state law for allegedly acting as an unlicensed talent agent through their management company, Starstruck Entertainment. She is asking for “any and all commissions, fees, profits, advances, producing fees or other monies” that she paid out from jobs that may have illegally secured for her. “Filing this lawsuit against Brandon had nothing to do with her alimony payments,” an insider told Us Weekly, “It’s about fighting for what she feels is right and owed to her.”

As for dating… well, that’s not high on Clarkson’s list right now. She told her guest Hoda Kotb on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this month that she wasn’t thinking about dating right now. “Not even a little bit,” she said while sharing her honest reasons. “I am really loving not having a man in my life. It’s just too hard, it’s too much. There’s all the jobs, plus the kids, plus being present for the kids while you’re there.”

Clarkson might also be looking to add one more job to her list: Broadway. It wouldn’t be starring in a show, she would rather write one. “I am in the works of writing something right now and working on something … for Broadway,” Clarkson shared on TalkShopLive last year. The sky seems to be the limit for Clarkson, except for having Blackstock in her life. That chapter is in the past.
