Kelly Clarkson's 'Heartbeat Song' Will Make You Believe in Love ... Again!

If you’re in the “love stinks” camp this Valentine’s Day season, Kelly Clarkson’s brand-new video for her comeback single, “Heartbeat Song,” is just the sugary-sweet antidote you need to start believing in romance again. Although the clip starts out on a downer note – showing a variety of couples fighting, crying, and sending breakup texts – the mood quickly shifts as each finds an unexpected new chance at love.

The concept may sound a little hokey in and of itself, but the simple idea that life can change from dark to light in an instant – paired with Clarkson’s buoyant vocals and infectious overall vibe – is irresistible.

As it turns out, that very concept has been at play recently in Clarkson’s own life. Although she’s happily married (to music manager Brandon Blackstock since 2013), the American Idol experienced a paralyzing moment of darkness directly after the birth of her daughter, River Rose, in June 2014. She lost her singing voice – temporarily — but at the time she truly believed her career was finished.

“I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day,” she admitted to ET Canada. “I was like, ‘Oh, God, I’m not going to be a singer anymore!’ I was bawling to my husband and like, completely hammered, just going, ‘Oh my God, it’s over, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

Thankfully, Clarkson regained her vocal chops, and is now both a happy mom and a returning force on the music scene. Her seventh studio album, Piece by Piece, which includes “Heartbeat Song,” hits the streets on March 3.
