Kelly Clarkson has been relishing in her post-divorce life from Brandon Blackstock with her successful career and overall joy after relocating to New York City for a fresh start this year. However, not all of her legal battles with her ex were over. She had an ongoing case going back to the days when Blackstock managed her career for Starstruck Management — and a recent judgment shows that there were some possibly shady things going on at the company.

A California labor commissioner ruled in Clarkson’s favor that Blackstock had overstepped his boundaries as a manager, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. He was booking his then-wife’s work on shows like The Voice and the Billboard Music Awards, but he was acting as a talent agent, something he was not licensed to do in the state of California.

Now, Blackstock must return the commissions he received from Clarkson, totaling a whopping $2,641,374. He is reportedly going to appeal the ruling and hope for a better outcome, but the former music manager did score one win in the judgment. Blackstock is allowed to keep the commissions he earned for helping her negotiate her contract for The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The ruling comes at a very interesting time for Blackstock, who will not only have to pay back his ex-wife in the legal case, but his generous spousal support payments of $115,000 a month are also coming to an end in January 2024. He will still receive his monthly child support payments of $45,000 for their kids, River, 9, and Remington, 7, but his new rancher career better be on the upswing with his finances taking a huge hit.
