Kelly Clarkson Returns to Host the 2019 Billboard Music Awards: 'I'm Back for More'

Round two!

Kelly Clarkson did such a good job hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year that the Grammy Award-winning singer has been asked back to do it all over again this year!

“I had so much fun hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year that I’m back for more,” the American Idol alum, 36, said in a statement. “We’re turning it up a notch this year and I can’t wait to celebrate all of my fellow amazing artists for another unforgettable night of live music.”

The awards show, which began airing on NBC last year, will be broadcast this year on Wednesday, May 1, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Clarkson first shared the happy news with her fans on Thursday, during her Meaning of Life Tour stop in Dallas.

“So they’ve asked me to host the Billboard Music Awards again,” she said, as the crowd burst into thunderous applause.

“I was terrified to do it last year and then we made it musical so it made me more comfortable, and they asked me to do it again, so I didn’t suck,” she added triumphantly. “They don’t ask people if you’re bad to come back.”

The Voice judge went on to open up about why being a part of the show means so much to her.

“I know I seem like such a nerd, like I’ve been covering songs from the beginning, since Idol, but I love music just like you. I listen to music so much, when I’m chilling, when I’m reading, the few times a year I’m on a treadmill, I just love music. I love having it on. So it’s a really cool event to be able to go to,” she remarked.

So far, this is the first major announcement about the awards ceremony, as both the nominees and the performers have yet to be released.
