The Third Gilmore Girl delves into Bishop’s remarkable career, from starring as Sheila Bryant in A Chorus Line to her memorable role as matriarch Emily Gilmore in the hit TV series. Bishop also gets candid about her personal life, including insight into her tumultuous first marriage.

“From my first steps onto a Broadway stage, to the town of Stars Hollow, I am excited to take my fans along with me through the story of my life,” she shared in a statement obtained by People magazine, which first reported on the book.

The book’s editor Hannah Braaten added, “Kelly Bishop’s long career in show business includes so many indelible moments and characters, and I’m thrilled to be the one to bring her whole life’s story to her countless fans.”

The official description on Simon & Schuster’s site details what fans can expect from Bishop’s memoir: “She shares some of her greatest stories and the life lessons she’s learned on her journey. From her early transition from dance to drama, to marrying young to a compulsive gambler, to the losses and achievements she experienced — among them marching for women’s rights and losing her second husband [Lee Leonard] to cancer — Bishop offers a rich, genuine celebration of her life.”
