Kel Mitchell is appreciative of his devoted fanbase.

After lifting the lid on his tumultuous first marriage to Tyisha Hampton, the 45-year-old actor thanked fans for continuing to support him.

"Dear Everyone, I am deeply moved by the outpouring of love, personal stories, and breakthroughs you've shared after my Club Shay Shay interview," he said in a statement shared on Instagram on Friday, May 17. "I will continue to pray for you, and please pray for me."

The Good Burger star then shared a quote from Pastor Rick Warren, which read, "The very experiences that you have resented or regretted most in life — the ones you've wanted to hide and forget — are the experiences God wants to use to help others. They are your ministry!"

After sharing a quote from novelist Aldous Huxley and the Bible verse 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Mitchell noted that "healed people heal people." He concluded by adding the mending heart emoji.

"Remember. It feels good to do what God made you to do! 💕," he captioned the post. "Thank you all 🙏🏾 Thank you Lord 🕊️ Thank you @clubshayshay 🎙️Thank you to my amazing wife @therealasialee for your unwavering encouragement and the way you empower me every day. I love you deeply! You are a gift from God. God knew my heart needed you 💍 Thank you to my family and friends for all the love 💯."

As Mitchell opened up about his marriage to Hampton on the May 15 episode of Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast, the actor alleged that his ex-wife got pregnant by multiple other men when they were together. He also claimed that Hampton — to whom he was married from 1999 to 2005 and now shares two adult children, Allure, 22, and Lyric, 25 — was actively pursuing other relationships during their marriage.

For several years, he "stuck around" for the sake of their children and tried to repair the relationship before the two ultimately went their separate ways. "We had the abortion, but then we had a baby, and she ended up telling me that the baby that was aborted wasn’t mine," he told Sharpe, 55, before sharing the lengthy account of his marriage.

“So the marriage was never the same after that, was it?” Sharpe asked, to which Mitchell revealed the abortion was "at the beginning" of their marriage.

“She almost died within the pregnancy, so that was a hard time, too. It was a lot," Mitchell said, alleging that there were "other times she had gotten pregnant" by other men, too, prompting Sharpe to ask how the All That alum found out.

“We weren’t having sex anymore. Because I knew what was going on and I was like, Yo, what is even happening, you’re not coming home... " he shared, noting that he "was working a lot" at the time.

Mitchell even confronted his wife over one of the situations, tracing down her car at a hotel and finding one of the other men in the lobby. He followed the person up to Hampton's room and she was "surprised" to see him enter.

Though he left moments after because he was "not about to fight over someone that," Mitchell returned to the scene because he was "feeling disrespected and I need to do something about it." The police eventually arrived, and he claimed a police officer told him: "I’ve seen this. This type of woman, this situation, you need to get out of this."

"Like a goofy, [I] still stayed around," the actor continued. "We were trying to make it work for the kids but it just wasn’t working out and she ended up getting pregnant by another guy."

Mitchell was "not really telling anybody," including his friends and family, about the tumultuous nature of the relationship as he was busy with work.

In 2004, Mitchell said he got a phone call from Hampton who told him there was a guy "she wants to be with," and he needed a "reset button."

"What I thought marriage would be, wasn’t that at all. And even just the navigation of this industry as well and what was going on, I just wanted to hit an off button at that point, I felt like that was the answer," he added.

In response to Mitchell's allegations, Hampton said in a TikTok video that there is "still trauma" on her end from the relationship, as she accused him of "lying about abortions." Hampton refuted many of his allegations as she claimed, "The very first time I had sex, I was impregnated with my son, who is here and he's alive and well and there could not have been an abortion in between any of that."

Hampton said that Mitchell "got completely psycho and crazy" when she stopped "accepting" his behavior, calling it a "narcissistic nightmare" that she's "still" dealing with. She also said "it was not a shock" that she was expecting their son, Lyric, and that Mitchell was "so excited" that she was pregnant, which happened when the former pair were 18.

Mitchell's rep and Hampton did not immediately return PEOPLE's request for comment.
