Keke Palmer pens a message to Tyler Perry amid reports that he is finalizing a deal to purchase BET

After reports surfaced alleging that Atlanta filmmaker Tyler Perry is finalizing a deal to acquire majority ownership of BET and VH1, congratulations began pouring in.
Keke Palmer, who worked with Perry in television and film, was among the list of individuals to celebrate the multihyphenated billionaire’s historic accomplishment. Last night (June 13), she penned a message to the media mogul, highlighting how his journey from homelessness to where he is now is inspirational to many.
“He came from nothing and changed everything,” Palmer captioned her Instagram post. “Tyler Perry, I watched you up close and personal since I was 11 years old. Then and now, you continue to be an inspiration! You work hard, and you give back, and you are a Virgo. What’s left to be said? Congrats, Virgo father. Ily!”

In 2006, Palmer starred alongside Perry, who portrayed three characters (Madea, Joe, and Brian) in Madea’s Family Reunion. The film was inspired by his play of the same name and a follow-up to his film debut, Diary of a Mad Black Woman.
At the time, Palmer played Nikki Grady, a foster child awarded to Madea by a judge in exchange for no prison time. The relationship began rocky as the weapon-toting grandma disciplined Grady in the car with Brian. Over time, the pair established a bond as their relationship poured over into Perry’s House of Payne series. The veteran Hollywood entertainers made an episode appearance during the show’s season two.
Although Palmer sent her congratulations to Perry, he nor BET have confirmed reports that he took control of the networks. As REVOLT previously mentioned, the “Good Deeds” actor revealed interest in the company’s ownership along with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenya Barris, and possibly more.
