Keisha Nash Whitaker, Actress and Forest Whitaker’s Ex-Wife, Dead At 51

Keisha Nash Whitaker, actress and ex-wife of actor Forest Whitaker, has died at the age of 51. According to PEOPLE Magazine, the news was confirmed by True Whitaker, the couple’s daughter, on social media.

“Goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond,” wrote the 25-year-old. “The most beautiful woman in the world… thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”

She continued to share another photo of her mother with Donny Hathaway‘s “A Song For You” playing in the background. A cause of death has not been revealed.

Keisha Nash Whitaker was born in Boston and worked professionally as an actress, model, and entrepreneur in the cosmetics industry. Per Northshore Mag, she was Tommy Hilfiger’s first African-American model.

Her IMDb includes acting credits in Proud (2004), producing credits on Kassim The Dream (2008), and additional on-camera appearances. She and Forest Whitaker met on the set of the 1994 film Blown Away after she was cast to play his on-screen romance. They were married in 1996 until their divorce was filed in 2018.

The couple had two children together, True and Sonnet Whitaker. Both had children before their marriage, Forest Whitaker’s son Ocean, 33, and Keisha Nash Whitaker’s daughter Autumn, 32.

“I’m not a tough love guy,” shared the acclaimed actor of his then-wife in 2009 with Parade. “To be honest, my wife is much stronger with the kids than I am. They come to me when they’re trying to slip something by. I have to always take a pause, when they come and say, ‘Hey Dad, is it OK if we do this?’ So I just look at them like, ‘Have you talked to your mom about that?’ They know I’m the easy one.”
