Keanu Reeves talks 'The Matrix' as a transgender allegory

Recently, "The Matrix" co-director and co-writer Lilly Wachowski called her iconic sci-fi trilogy a "trans metaphor." She added, "That was the original intention but the world wasn't quite ready." "Matrix" star Keanu Reeves recently spoke to Yahoo Entertainment and reacted to the revelation. "I never spoke with Lilly about that, she never conveyed that to me," he said. However, he added, "The Matrix films are profound. And I think that allegorically, a lot of people - in different versions of it - the film can speak to that." He went on to say, "For Lilly to come out and share that with us, it's cool." But Reeves was mum on if the trans metaphor will carry on in the upcoming "Matrix" sequel. "I don't know, I think it will be open to interpretation," he said.
