Warner Bros. has set a release date for the new Matrix movie.
It will land at cinemas worldwide on May 21, 2021, but there's already a twist.
It appears that the long-awaited sequel from director Lana Wachowski will be going up against John Wick: Chapter 4, which is due to be released the same day. Both are significant action franchises, but more importantly, they’re also both Keanu Reeves vehicles.
Matrix 4 will find Reeves reprising his role of action icon Neo, alongside Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith and new recruits Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who's thought to be playing a young Morpheus, Neil Patrick Harris and Jonathan Groff.
John Wick: Chapter 4, meanwhile, will find Reeves returning as the world-weary assassin John Wick for a fourth violent adventure.
To add an extra layer to all this, the John Wick movies were devised by former stunt performers Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, who first met Reeves on the Matrix movies.
