“Kayfabe” has officially been added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

For years, kayfabe has been one of the most popular terms in the wrestling world. Now, it has officially been recognized as a word by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

In the listing, one definition defines Kayfabe as, “The tacit agreement between professional wrestlers and their fans to pretend that overtly staged wrestling events, stories, characters, etc., are genuine.”

The broad meaning is listed as the “tacit agreement to behave as if something is real, sincere, or genuine when it is not.”

According to the listing, the secondary definition is, “the playacting involved in maintaining kayfabe.”

Several examples, including articles from Fortune and Rolling Stone, were provided in the listing.
