Katy Perry has weighed in on who she'd like to see replace her at the judges' table after this season of American Idol, and it's country singer Jelly Roll.

Perry told E! News that having Jelly Roll join Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan on American Idol "would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!"

"I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show," the pop artist added in an interview with E! News after the April 15 live show. "I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president; he could be my pastor; I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything."

We've gotten used to seeing Jelly Roll on American Idol, so seems like it would be a natural choice. Jelly Roll appeared on the show earlier this month as a guest mentor, bonding with contestant Mia Matthews over the loss of their fathers. He also appeared twice during the last season to perform “Need a Favor” with contestant Oliver Steele and "Save Me" with Lainey Wilson for the season finale.

The man is on a roll, recently picking up three CMT Music Awards for the second year in a row. The Nashville native released "Son of a Sinner" in 2021, made his Grand Ole Opry debut that November, and has had three No. 1 hits since. Maybe a judge's seat on American Idol will be his next accomplishment.
