Katy Perry teases new song: 'I won't apologize, I will not subscribe'

Katy Perry teases new song

Katy Perry has sounded a rallying cry (and a possible preview of new music).

Nearly three weeks after dropping “Chained to the Rhythm,” the lead single from her upcoming fourth major label album, Perry teased another recording via Instagram Story, seemingly translating her recent, politically charged focus (she proudly championed Hillary Clinton on the 2016 presidential campaign trail) into fresh material.

Fans captured the post on Tuesday and quickly posted its contents to Twitter. The 11-second preview teases Perry’s distorted vocals as she chants, “I won’t, no, I won’t apologize. I will not, will not subscribe. Don’t ask me, ask me to normalize,” echoing anti-Donald Trump language used by the president’s critics in the past.

Shortly after the release of “Chained to the Rhythm,” Perry touted her new musical era as one of “purposeful pop,” hinting that her lyrics and aesthetic might soon dip into the well of social consciousness.
