Katy Perry Lists Spare Beverly Hills Home

Though she bought it less than two years ago for about $7.5 million, it appears Katy Perry‘s lavish Beverly Hills guesthouse will end up being “The One That Got Away.” The secluded property, gated and located at the very end of a hidden cul-de-sac in a private neighborhood, has been flipped back on the market — this time asking nearly $8 million.

Of course, the Perry guesthouse isn’t really a guesthouse at all; it’s a bonafide large home with more than 4,400 square feet of living space, 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. But with an estimated net worth of $330 million, Perry can well afford to do things that mere financial mortals might find incomprehensible, like spend $7.5 million to buy a place for friends and family to bunk up when they’re in town, a place that happens to be located in the very same guarded community as her $18 million main residence.

A quick comparison of listing photos from 2018 and now reveals Perry has changed very little about her “extra” 90210 home. Save for some minor interior revisions and a slightly more austere, modern choice of decor, the Coldwater Canyon estate appears virtually identical — it’s still got a generously large motorcourt, sprawling grassy lawn, mature trees, and a classic oval-shaped pool.

The unusually long and narrow house was originally built in 1960 as a humble ranch-style abode, though it appears a previous owner added onto the structure at some point, which could account for its somewhat ungainly proportions. Guests arriving at the property must park in the driveway and pass through double doors, stepping up brick stairs to a long concrete pathway that leads past the home’s kitchen, dining room, living room, and even the swimming pool before finally reaching the home’s front door, which is practically at the very end of the residence. Whereas most modern homes have a kitchen that opens to a family den, in this case the kitchen and family room are at opposite ends of the structure.

Inside the front door lies a roomy foyer with wheat-colored hardwood floors and a modern brass chandelier that looks more akin to an exploded molecular construction. There are two guest bedrooms on the ground floor, each with an ensuite bath, spacious living and dining rooms — both with their own fireplaces — and an eat-in kitchen with its own island and stainless appliances.

The home’s second floor is entirely devoted to the master suite, which encompasses a bedroom with private outdoor balcony, sitting area, two walk-in closets, and a master bath with built-in soaking tub and steam shower. (There’s also a separate loft-like second floor living area above the garage, which contains a spare room that is currently outfitted as an informal music studio but could be the home’s fourth bedroom or a gym.)

The property is located in a particularly prestigious private enclave known for its celebrity residents — other homeowners within sugar-borrowing distance include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lawrence, Adele, and Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who first listed their 90210 home this May and have since slashed the pricetag by a million dollars.

Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland holds the listing.
