Recently, Consequence launched its official Discord server. Fostering a thriving community of pop-culture obsessives, opinionated music fans, and creators of all kinds, the Consequence server will also play home to events you can’t catch anywhere else — and one such event is just around the corner. Tomorrow (Thursday, September 7th) at 12:00 p.m. ET, singer-songwriter and recent ANTI- signee Katy Kirby is set to log on for our first-ever live AMA. The Brooklyn-based indie folk artist began capturing attention with her unique approach to highly personal lyrics, alluringly beautiful arrangements, and softly sung lead vocals. Her debut, 2021’s Cool Dry Place, proved to be somewhat of a breakthrough, introducing her introspective tunes to an ever growing audience.
Now on ANTI-, Kirby returned this year with “Cubic Zirconia,” an angular folk track that supplements her usual whimsy with a tastefully overdriven guitar and an extended metaphor. It’s yet another impressively-constructed cut from an artist who’s not just showing growth in size, but in artistry.
