Katie Maloney on Something About Her Finally Opening: ‘Anything Can Happen’

Vanderpump Rules stars Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix finally realized their dream of opening a sandwich shop together. Something About Her opened on May 22. But that was after many delays and hiccups. The duo had to remove the West Hollywood eaterie’s patio and deal with issues with their main fridge and their floors.

Ariana and Katie brought Chef Penny Davidi aboard to help launch the location. But Penny and the ladies had a falling out. Penny turned down their offer of a salary, plus 10% of the profits from that location. Now Penny alleges that she owns 10% of Something About Her. Well, just another obstacle to deal with, right Katie and Ariana?

Katie is ready for patrons to enjoy the shop (and sandwiches)

“The whole vision that we had, from the music to the decor to, obviously, the sandwiches, everything was really thought out. I think that’s what we want people to come in and finally be able to just be a part of it,” Katie told Entertainment Tonight.

The space was designed by Jon Hutman, who created sets for director Nancy Meyers’ films. “Every single day, we’re romanticizing lunch. The idea did come from someone else; they were like, ‘Why don’t you see who does her movie sets and go to, like, the guy?’ And I’m like, that’s a really good idea, so one day I emailed him,” Katie explained.

As the summer starts, this is the first time that Pump Rules isn’t filming in the history of the show. There are no plans yet to start filming for Season 12 yet. “It feels very unknown, and while that might be kind of scary, it’s really an exciting time,” Katie stated, “because I feel like anything can happen. I feel really positive about it.”

The shop features specialty sandwiches and also offers drink options from Loverboy and Avaline. If you are drooling over their sandwiches, you are not alone. It is great to see Ariana and Katie succeed in launching their business venture.
