Leaving A Tough Situation

What started out as a "fairy tale" romance ended up being a nightmare. The marriage and subsequent divorce between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is the stuff of Hollywood legend, and Holmes has led a quiet life since leaving Cruise and Scientology behind.

Becoming A Mom

Holmes has been dedicated mother to her daughter, Suri, who is now 13. In an interview with Elle UK, Holmes admitted that becoming a mom in her 20s helped her "grow up."

"I was happy to become a mom in my 20s. It’s been nice that our ages fit. How do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together."

Growing Up

The Holmes girls live a lovely life together in New York City, and Holmes explains that she puts a lot of care into creating a cozy nest of a home for Suri.

"I have a lot of pictures. I like vintage art from flea markets. Because we’re in New York, I want our apartment to be very cozy and soft — the city around us is so intense and hard. So that’s our style. And a lot of colors."

Building A Life Together

Because she is a rich celebrity, Holmes is able to create a privileged life for her daughter, but she still worries about how difficult the world can be.

"Doesn’t every parent [worry about that]? There is so much bad news and hate and things that don’t make sense. The atmosphere around the world is…terrifying."

Holmes seems to be doing a great job as a mom, and it's wonderful to see both of them thriving in freedom.
