We’re always on the hunt for new takes on the traditional fall uniform of a cozy sweater and leggings, and Katie Holmes’ recent sophisticated, sporty interpretation definitely caught our attention.

The actress, 44, stepped out wearing an army green cable knit, henley-style pullover with a relaxed, boxy shape. She styled it with a black tee, black sneakers, and loose black trousers, which fall in line with the baggy jeans trend that has replaced the once very fall-friendly skinnies.

To accessorize, Holmes incorporated a color we’re seeing everywhere this season — deep red — in the form of a leather tote, and she finished the look with some simple necklaces and a pair of oversized aviator sunglasses.

We can always count on Holmes’ street style to give us a new perspective on a classic trend, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. The three-quarter button down style gives the top a slice of preppy, tomboy-ish flair that meshes well with Holmes’ trainers. And its army green shade is a fitting but unexpected fall color (as opposed to the season’s traditional rusts and maroons).
