Kathy Kelly-Brown Upped To SVP Strategic Initiatives For Comcast Cable And NBCUniversal

Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal today announced Kathy Kelly-Brown has been upped to SVP Strategic Initiatives. She will be responsible for identifying creative, technological and strategic opportunities across the entire portfolio of both Comcast and NBCUniversal. Kelly-Brown will report to Neil Smit, CEO of Comcast Cable, and Steve Burke, CEO of NBCUniversal, and will split her time between New York and Philly.

She replaces Maggie McLean Suniewick, who recently was promoted to the newly created role of President, NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises.

Most recently, Kelly-Brown served as SVP Global Talent Booking, a division she launched and that develops strategic, customized publicity opportunities for talent, tapping into NBCUniversal’s broad portfolio, including entertainment, sports and news platforms. Kelly-Brown will continue to lead Global Talent Booking.

Kelly-Brown also held communications positions across NBCUniversal, including SVP Communications at NBCUniversal News Group. In that post, she served as principal spokesperson for NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC and the Weather Channel. Previously, as SVP Corporate Communications and Media Relations, she led the company’s communication efforts for areas including broadcast and entertainment cable ad sales, government affairs and internal communications.

Kelly-Brown helped lead communications for the Comcast and NBCUniversal transaction announced in 2009. She also served as VP NBC Entertainment Publicity, where she oversaw the creation and execution of publicity campaigns for all of NBC’s primetime series, long form, special and daytime programming.
