Kathy Griffin on Trump images: 'I'm no longer sorry. The whole outrage was B.S.'
Kathy Griffin was promoting her upcoming tour on the Australian show TV Sunrise and backtracked on her apology for releasing photos and a video of her holding a fake severed head of Donald Trump in May. The backlash over her images was swift. Griffin quickly took them down and sent out a video in which she said, “I sincerely apologize. I’m just now seeing the reaction of these images. I’m a comic. I crossed the line.”
She later held a press conference, in which she repeated her apology.
On Sunrise, Griffin said, “I’m no longer sorry, the whole outrage was B.S. The whole thing got so blown out of proportion.”
She went on to compare her display with the actions of the president, saying, “I made an apology, and then now in light of all of the crazy stuff he and his administration are doing — pardoning Joe Arpaio, who is convicted of a crime but never served time, the transgender ban.”
She continued: “Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the president of the United States is committing.”
