Kathy Griffin Gets Married Minutes After Midnight On NYE, Lily Tomlin Officiates
Kathy Griffin had a very special reason to celebrate the New Year, because she GOT MARRIED! The comedian and actress tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Randy Bick in a ceremony that lasted just under 14 minutes and was officiated by actress Lily Tomlin.
Griffin, who is known for previously hosting the CNN New Year's coverage alongside Anderson Cooper, announced that she and Randy were engaged and would be getting married shortly after the west coast welcomed in 2020. True to her words, Griffin and her new husband exchanged "I do's," and even wrapped up the ceremony in under 14 minutes!
The Announcement
"Happy New Year ... and we're getting married!" Griffin and Bick announced to everyone in a Tweet during NYE.
The announcement was pretty adorable, and as Bick leaned in to kiss his soon-to-be-bride ... she pushed him off and reminded "OMG ... I'm a virgin!"
Later, Griffin revealed the wedding ceremony in a follow up tweet:
"The entire ceremony was just under 14 minutes but I have to give you guys the uncut first 75 seconds. LOVE IT! We promised you atypical. We are in love and we cannot stop laughing. Thank you@LilyTomlinand Jane Wagner!"
I Do
Lily Tomlin kicked off the ceremony with a few words:
"What was supposed to be a shallow, ‘toot it and boot it’ one-night stand has grown and flourished into something far more meaningful,” the "Grace and Frankie" star said as the ceremony began.
She continued, "They stayed together. Then they couldn’t stay away from one another.”
Tomlin's longtime spouse, Jane Wagner, was also present, and was tasked with watching over Griffin's puppies while the ceremony went on. It doesn't appear there was anyone else present at the intimate ceremony.
The Dress
The dress Kathy Griffin wore to her wedding had special meaning, as Randy was the one to pick it out. The comedian explained on Twitter that she tasked him with making the choice.
Sharing a photo from the couple's first date, Griffin revealed:
"This was our first formal date in September 2011! We are in the back of a limo provided by the one only@GloriaEstefanbecause her team arranged for me to surprise her as a back up “dancer” when she performed at the Alma awards!"
She continued:
"I asked Randy to pick out which ever one of my long dresses was his favorite for any reason. He picked out this dress and showed me this photo. Romance is hotttt again."
