Griffin's video was released a week after four women came forward with accusations against Brand. These allegations published by The Sunday Times spanned a range of incidents, including rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse, during Brand's career peak from 2006 to 2013.

One accuser detailed a rape incident in his Los Angeles home in 2012, involving Brand forcing her "against a wall."

The woman said she sought assistance at a rape center the following day. Another victim recounted an "emotionally abusive and controlling" relationship with Brand when she was just 16 while he was in his 30s.

Getting ahead of the story, Brand had vehemently denied all the "alarming" allegations a day before the exposé was published.

He addressed the accusations in a video, stating, "I have received two alarming letters, or a letter and an email, one from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper, listing a litany of egregious and aggressive attacks. Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some grave allegations that I refute."

The "Bedtime Stories" actor went on: "When I was in the movies, and as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. During that time of promiscuity, the relationships that I had were always consensual."

"[There are] witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives that these two mainstream media outlets are trying to construct, apparently, in what seems to me to be a coordinated attack," he concluded.

Following the bombshell investigation into Brand by Chanel 4 titled, "Russell Brand: In Plain Sight: Dispatches," the comedian released a video on Instagram, thanking his supporters for "questioning" the information they were presented with and begging for their support on the video sharing app Rumble after his YouTube channel got demonetized.
