Kathy Griffin postpones Miami show after plane makes an emergency landing: 'Scrapes and cuts, but everybody's OK'
Kathy Griffin was supposed to spend Wednesday night making a Miami audience laugh, but instead she was apologizing for having to postpone the show.
Griffin explained in a video that there was a problem — and it sounded like a scary one — with her flight. “The plane that we were traveling on had a fire in the back of the plane. We made an emergency landing,” she said. “Scrapes and cuts, but everybody’s OK. I’m actually stuck at a different airport in a different city. I sincerely apologize. You guys know I never cancel.”
MIAMI – I am so sorry, for the second time in ten years I have to postpone a show. The plane I was on just had an emergency landing and we can’t get to Miami on time for the show. I’m truly sorry. Please text KATHY to 345345 to find out when the show is rescheduled. pic.twitter.com/9jtSF7T9cI

MIAMI – see tweet above. There was a fire in the tail of the plane. I would never ever postpone for anything trivial. I am truly sorry. Please text KATHY to 345345 to find out when the show is rescheduled. I’m so sorry.

I am so, so disappointed. I know how much time and money people put into getting ready for a show (going out to dinner before etc). I’m so sorry and I Look forward to rescheduling the show.

The former Suddenly Susan actress later announced that the show would, in fact, go on at a later date.
MIAMI: I’ve been able to reschedule the Miami Show that I had to postpone tonight. New date is Sat, September 22nd. If you have tickets now, those will be honored. You don’t have to do anything else. Earlier in the day, Griffin’s Twitter feed caught the eye of Donald Trump Jr., the son of President Trump, who Griffin has made clear she does not support. She infamously tweeted a controversial photo of herself holding a mask made to look like Trump’s bloody severed head and was fired from her gig hosting New Year’s Eve on CNN and other backlash. She apologized, then took it back, and named her comeback tour, “Laugh Your Head Off.” It’s not unusual for the Trumps, at least their names, to appear in her Twitter feed.
Griffin, who’s also in favor of the #MeToo movement, said she was frustrated because comedian Norm Macdonald, who made comments earlier this week that appeared to criticize the #MeToo movement, has his own show on the streaming service. This was one of Don Jr.’s comments about Griffin’s remark that she “can’t get a Netflix special.”
The reason you don’t have a Netflix special isn’t because you’re a woman, it’s because you’re not a good comedian. It’s really simple. https://t.co/SiVJaVZZLT

Griffin is scheduled to return to the stage for a show in Orlando on Thursday, if she can get there.
