Kathy Bates Pot Comedy Disjointed Gets Premiere Date — Watch a Teaser

Cough-cough-cough… Kathy Bates and Netflix sure know how to celebrate 4/20.

The streaming service announced a premiere date for the Emmy-winning actress’ new weed-themed comedy Disjointed on Thursday — aka April 20, the highest of high holidays. The first season will premiere on Friday, August 25, with Bates starring as Ruth, the owner of a L.A. marijuana dispensary. Along with her son, a security guard and three “budtenders,” Ruth provides herbal refreshments for her clientele — and yeah, she also gets high on her own supply.

Sitcom guru Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) is onboard as a co-creator and executive producer. Netflix has already committed to 20 episodes.

Netflix also released a brief teaser for Disjointed —which you can watch above — with Bates in full hippie earth-mother mode, sporting long gray hair and a flowing robe. She emerges from her smoke-filled dispensary, Ruth’s Alternative Caring, with a joint in hand and takes a puff while a peppy jazz song about smoking reefer — “I’m so high/I’m so dry” — plays in the background.

Happy 4/20, everybody! (Now just write down that premiere date somewhere so you don’t forget it.)
