For new mom Katherine Schwarzenegger, like many others, the holiday season is looking a little different this year as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across the United States.

Schwarzenegger, 30, who gave birth to her first child, Lyla Maria, with Chris Pratt, 41, in August, gave her followers a peek at her little girl's first Christmas on Instagram. She shared an image of an ornament gifted by her sister Christina Schwarzenegger.

"The experience of our daughters first Christmas is a big silver lining of joy and light for me," Schwarzenegger wrote in the image's caption.

"2020 has been a crazy year, it’s not what any of us expected; it’s been filled with a lot of challenging times and unpredictable twists and turns," she continued. "It has also been a year of immense joy for those of us who have welcomed life into the world."

Experiencing pregnancy and childbirth during a pandemic was not how Schwarzenegger was expecting to begin parenthood, she added. "But I couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful to have my little Lyla Maria in my life and to be able to be her mom."

She gave a shout out to other new parents and those hoping to become parents soon.

"It’s a wild time to embark on this journey of motherhood and I see you!," Schwarzenegger wrote.

Lyla Maria is Pratt and Schwarzenegger's first child together. Pratt also has a son, Jack Pratt, 8, with ex-wife Anna Faris.

In August, Pratt took to Instagram to announce the birth of their daughter.

"We couldn’t be happier," Pratt wrote in an Instagram post with a photo of himself and Schwarzenegger holding the baby's hand. "Both mom and baby are doing great. We are extremely blessed."

Pratt and Schwarzenegger married in June 2019. The couple described their wedding as "the best day of our lives" in an Instagram post after their big day. They shared their pregnancy news in the spring.

In February, Pratt said in a video clip exclusive to People that Schwarzenegger would make a great mom.

“She has changed my life for the better in so many ways,” Pratt said.
