She’s her own troll, and it’s hilarious — Katharine McPhee made fun of the age difference between her and husband David Foster, inevitably beating any keyboard warriors to the punch. While much has been made of the fact that Foster is 35 years older than McPhee, the couple clearly isn’t sweating it. And, judging by her recent tweet, McPhee even sees how people find a little humor in it.

The moment went down on Twitter when a fan of both Foster and McPhee’s took to social media to reveal their secret wish for a musical collaboration between the husband and wife. Only, this particular collaboration would have required a time machine. “Am I playing #DavidFoster’s 1992 xmas album for my entire office? Yes. Do I have no shame? Yes. The only downside is no @katharinemcphee on this album,” the fan tweeted on Nov. 19. In response to that sweet shout-out, McPhee showed that she’s clearly getting the last laugh when it comes to jokes about the sizable age gap in her marriage.

“The recording schedule for this conflicted with my 3rd-grade homework, unfortunately,” McPhee quipped, and we are officially dead. Not surprisingly, fans also thought the moment was pretty amazing. “I freaking love you, savage,” one wrote. Another said, “Congratulations. You are a complete artist.” (If you have time, peruse the reactionary memes… they’re brilliant, too.)

Although critics love to harp on the fact that McPhee is 35 and Foster recently turned 70, that gap certainly doesn’t seem to bother the couple — who got hitched in June — or their family. In fact, Foster’s adult daughters often joke with McPhee on social media. They all get along well, which was made all the more clear when Erin Foster, 37, told E! News this week that she wants her stepmom to participate in her upcoming nuptials.

“So Kat wrote me the other day, she was like, ‘Is there anything that I can be doing to help you prepare?'” Erin recounted, continuing, “And I said, ‘Yes. Vocal exercises. Prepare your voice because you will be performing.’ She’s like, ‘OK.'” As for what her stepmom would sing, Erin gushed, “There’s a song from Waitress that we really want her to perform that we really love. I don’t know what else. Yeah, just anything. She truly has such a beautiful voice.”
