Kate Middleton's Return to Her Royal Family Duties Might Be a Lot Further Away Than Fans Hoped

Social media commentary about Kate Middleton’s health crisis seems to have reached its second stage. Royal watchers apparently aren’t satisfied by her video message in late March that explained her wish for privacy as she battled cancer. As the conspiracy theories grow by the day, people are wondering when the Princess of Wales will return to her royal engagements.

It sounds like fans are going to have to be patient because Kate will probably “not appear in public for the rest of the year,” according to a palace source for The Daily Beast. “Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance,” they added. “I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year.” This sentiment was similarly echoed by the Daily Mail who stated that “we might not see Catherine again until the autumn – and only then if she has recovered fully.”

The palace had generally downplayed Kate’s cancer diagnosis, likely to keep the inflammatory headlines from reaching a fever pitch, but it’s clear her treatment and recovery are serious. At least the royal family now knows that they have to stay ahead of their PR messaging. “I would not rule out another video message updating the country on her health,” The Daily Beast insider noted. “That proved to be a very effective way of keeping the conspiracy theorists at bay.”

Kate’s job right now is to steer clear of any “stress or anxiety” and focus on “the business of getting better.” The Princess of Wales is also keeping her “circle of trust” very small with only the Middletons, including sister Pippa and brother James, in the loop because they have “never let her down.” It’s a worrisome time for the royal family with King Charles III also fighting cancer, but for Kate, rest and recovery is the priority.

The Princess of Wales’ diagnosis came after “major abdominal surgery” in January discovered that “cancer had been present,” per her videotaped statement. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” she shared. “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”
