Kate Middleton's Photoshop Fail Is Reportedly Not the First Time the Royals Have Dabbled in Editing

When Kate Middleton‘s Photoshop fail in her recent Mother’s Day post hit the headlines, royal fans were shocked. Why would they have to edit it? What is she trying to hide?

And while speculation ran rampant surrounding the photo, which included Middleton and her kids Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince George, 5, a new development shows that the editing scandal might not be that big of a deal. In fact, upon further inspection by Global picture agency Getty Images, the picture Middleton took of Queen Elizabeth with her great-grandchildren at Balmoral in August 2022 was also edited, per The Telegraph.

The picture, which was released in April last year to mark what would have been the late Queen’s 97th birthday, now has an important notice on Getty Images. “EDITORS NOTE: Image has been digitally enhanced at source,” it reads.

Looking at the inconsistencies pointed out by The Telegraph, it’s clear to see that the photo has undergone small yet noticeable edits. Among them is the late Queen’s skirt being misaligned, a shadow next to Prince Louis’ ear and a black patch behind Prince George’s shirt collar.

While these inconsistencies (six in total) aren’t enough to determine if everyone was in attendance or some were just edited in, it is enough to state that Middleton is no stranger to Photoshopping here and there. And while she might not be a professional just yet, we might’ve jumped the gun from overthinking the Mother’s Day post. After all, she’s done it before and we didn’t even notice until now!

As a reminder, Middleton has already apologized for the edits. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” the royal wrote on X. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

Looking at this Queen Elizabeth picture, it looks like she was telling the truth!
